World Ozone Day 2020: Know what is the history, purpose, and theme of this year

Hello friends, today is World Ozone Day. This day is celebrated every year on 16 September in the world. It is said to be the world’s most successful environmental agreement. The treaty was recognized on 16 September 1987. It is signed by an agreement by all countries for the protection of the ozone layer under the Treaty of Vienna.

Know what is the theme of this year:

The day before, people are made aware of its importance by preparing a separate team for the ozone layer. Ozone for life” is the slogan for World Ozone Day 2020. This year, we celebrate 35 years of global ozone layer protection. The slogan of the day, “Ozone for life”, reminds us that ozone is crucial for our life on Earth and we must continue to protect the ozone layer for our future generations also.

Know what is the history of this day:

In 1985, the scientists of the British Antarctic Survey first discovered a large hole in the ozone layer over the Antarctic. Scientists came to know that its responsibility is chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) gas. After which a consensus was reached in countries around the world to stop the use of this gas and on 16 September 1987, the Montreal Protocol was signed. Since then, to protect the ozone layer, the United Nations General Assembly announced the date of September 16 in 1994 as International Ozone Day.

Know what is the purpose of this day:

The purpose of Ozone Day is to make people aware of the preservation of the ozone layer. The ozone layer is a layer of ozone molecules found in the atmosphere between 20 and 40 kilometers. The ozone layer protects the Earth from the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays. Life without ozone can be in danger because of ultraviolet rays reach the earth directly, it can be extremely dangerous for humans, trees, plants, and animals.

Know what is the ozone layer:

The ozone layer is a layer of the Earth’s atmosphere. The ozone layer protects us from ultraviolet rays coming from Surat. The ozone layer was discovered in 1913 by French physicists Fabri Charles and Henri Busson. Ozone is a gas consisting of three atoms of oxygen, which is found in a very small amount of 0.02% in the atmosphere.

Scientists believe that life on Earth would cease to exist without the ozone layer. The inability of the ozone layer will affect the lives of people, trees, and animals. The lack of the ozone layer causes the natural balance to deteriorate, causing more heat than winter. Winters come in irregularly and glaciers begin to melt.
