World Contraceptive Day 2020: know what is the purpose of this day, and when did this day begin to be celebrated
Hello friends, today is World Contraceptive Day. This day is celebrated every year on 26 September. The mission of WCD, launched in 2007, is to raise awareness about contraception and enable youth to make informed choices on their sexual and reproductive health. It is supported by the World Health Organization with various medical societies and NGOs around the world.
It is their right to decide:
The World Health Organization is highlighting the importance of ensuring that there is a provision to choose high quality postnatal contraceptive methods to prevent unwanted pregnancies during the first 12 months after delivery. It should be available to both women and their partners. Contraception is important because it helps women identify whether it is their right to decide whether they want to have children.
What is the purpose of this day:
The purpose of this day is to promote family planning and ensure access to preferred contraceptive methods for women and couples, while supporting the health and development of communities, to achieve women’s well-being and civilization. Allowing women to choose what, when, and how many children achieved progress on global health goals. It helps break the cycle of poverty.
