WhatsApp’s Communities feature will increase Signal-Telegram tension, group admins will be able to do this work

WhatsApp recently rolled out the most-awaited multi-device support for Android and iOS users globally. The Meta-owned messaging platform is now reportedly working on a feature called Communities. As the name suggests, the upcoming feature will put more power in the hands of the group admin and allow more people to join together.

Signal and Telegram problems will increase
The WhatsApp community feature was first spotted by XDA Developers and now the trusted blog WABetaInfo has also provided new details. With this feature, the messaging platform is likely to aim to challenge competitors like Signal and Telegram, which gained popularity after WhatsApp rolled out a new privacy policy earlier this year. The latest report suggests that the Communities feature will give more power to group admins. The feature is said to give group admins the ability to create groups within groups.

This is how the communities feature will work!
The Communities feature will allow admins to be able to invite new users through the Community Invite link and then connect with each other. The report did not specify what the feature/community chat would look like. However, according to what has been assured by WABetaInfo, these chats will also be end-to-end encrypted.

All chats will be safe
With end-to-end encrypted chats, the instant messaging platform means that all chats exchanged on the platform are secure and locked. Apart from the sender and receiver of the message, no one will be able to check the chat, not even WhatsApp. As per the report, the community chat will see a subtle design change as compared to the regular WhatsApp group chat. It is indicated that the community icons will look squarish with rounded corners. As of now, there is no information on when the Communities feature will be officially rolled out. Since this feature is already in the works, we can expect it to be available by the end of the year or by early 2022.
