Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to inaugurate the Purvanchal Expressway on Tuesday. Earlier today, on Sunday, the landing of planes was done on this expressway. Fighter aircraft like Jaguar, Mirage-2000 and Sukhoi MK 30 of the Indian Air Force will conduct these touchdown exercises on the Purvanchal Expressway in Sultanpur on 16 November.

The exercise is being held on the expressway on an airstrip of 3.1 km length. PM Modi is going to inaugurate the expressway costing 42 thousand crores on November 16. After the inauguration of Purvanchal Expressway, Jaguar will do touch and go drills on Miraj-2000 and two Sukhoi Expressways. The aerobatics team will perform acrobatics with three sun rays during the opening ceremony. Three Jaguar aircraft of the IAF have already practiced landing on the expressway. The 340 km long expressway connects western and eastern UP. Purvanchal Expressway will connect Lucknow with Mirzapur and will reduce the travel time between these cities by four hours.

The expressway also connects Barabanki, Amethi, Sultanpur, Faizabad, Ambedkar Nagar, Azamgarh and Mau. In this, seven major bridges, seven railway overbridges, 114 minor bridges and 271 underpasses have been built, so that the surrounding residential population and transport facilities can be connected to it.

UP is the first state in India to have two expressway airstrips. One runway has been prepared on Lucknow-Agra Expressway and the other on Purvanchal Expressway. Expressway airstrips are designed for emergency landing and take-off of fighter jets.
