Washington: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a visit to the US, was warmly welcomed by Georgia Republican MP Earl Buddy Carter on Wednesday. Influential Georgia lawmaker Earl ‘Buddy’ Carter told the House that the US is proud to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said the relationship between India and the US is deeply rooted in the principles of democracy, liberty and the rule of law. Prime Minister Modi is on a three-day visit to the US starting Wednesday where he will meet President Joe Biden and attend the historic Quad Summit.
Earl ‘Buddy’ Carter, a member of the US House of Representatives, said, “Madam Speaker, I stand up to recognize the important diplomatic partnership between the United States and India.” The visits of our leaders are vital to our relationship and America is proud to welcome Prime Minister Modi. Relations between India and the US are deeply rooted in the principles of democracy, liberty and the rule of law. Carter said trade cooperation between the two countries has grown over the years and is an important part of the partnership. The trade in goods and services between India and the US reached US$ 149 billion in 2019.
Addressing the House, Carter said that increased trade between the US and India will bring more prosperity to our people. He said it is important that the world’s largest democracy has a strong diplomatic partnership with the beautiful city we have been chosen to represent. Carter said, ‘Madam President, I thank the Prime Minister for being a friend of the United States of America.’
