Uganda Para Badminton: Pramod Bhagat and Sukant Kadam register easy wins, reach third round

Kampala. World number-1 badminton player Pramod Bhagat on Thursday registered a second consecutive victory in the Uganda International Para Badminton Tournament. Pramod Bhagat defeated Deda Jean-Yves Yao of Ivory Coast in less than 22 minutes. He won this match in the SL3 singles category by 21-13, 21-9 in straight games. He also won his mixed doubles match.

This top badminton player of the country won his mixed doubles match by pairing with Palak Kohli. The pair of Pramod Bhagat and Palak defeated compatriot Shanti Viswanathan and Bashir Mutayba of Uganda 21-11, 21-12 in straight games. Athletes with lower limb impairment compete in the LL3 category.

In the SL4 category, Sukant Kadam defeated Usman Habi Adamu of Nigeria in just 18 minutes. The world number five defeated his opponent in straight games 21-4, 21-5. In a mixed doubles match with Jyoti, he won the 29-minute match against the Italian pair of David Posenato and Rosa Afomo di Marco 22-20, 21-17.

Pramod Bhagat struggled a bit in the first game of the match against Deda Jean. However, Pramod won the game by 21-13. After this, there was not much trouble in the second game and the Indian shuttler won the game 21-9 and made it to the next round.
