Steve Smith troubled by elbow pain
Steve Smith said in a conversation with Cricket Australia, ‘I was not 100 percent fit during IPL 2021. My elbow was hurting and was taking pain killers before the match. There came a time when instead of getting better, the pain started getting worse.
Smith’s average performance in IPL 2021

Smith has been resting ever since he returned to Australia. He has also taken rest from the West Indies-Bangladesh tour. Smith said that Test cricket is more important to him than T20 cricket and he does not want to risk his injury and wants to be fully fit for the Ashes series.
Smith may also skip T20 World Cup
Steve Smith has also indicated to take rest from the T20 World Cup to play in the Ashes. If Smith’s pain is not cured till the T20 World Cup, then Australia may miss his experience in the T20 World Cup.
Steve Smith does not have a very good record in T20 cricket. He has scored 794 runs in 37 innings at an average of 27.38 and his strike rate is less than 130.
