About 14 years ago, Kunal Kohli’s ‘Fanna’ was seen. It was a good film. Seeing this wonderful film by Aamir Khan and Kajol, it was felt that Kunal Kohli will continue to make good films even further. His new film ‘Lahore Confidential’ shattered expectations. Unbelievable that the creator of ‘Fanaa’ can make such a childish, whisper and hollow film. The story is as loose as it has been on the screen. The film is of just one hour and eight minutes. But it is a heavy task to endure for so long. ‘Lahore Confidential’ is yet another addition to his list of half-baked detective films made in Hindi so far.

Plenty of incidents
In the pride of India’s intelligence agency RAW, the film has done a lot of humiliation. The Indian Embassy of Pakistan rarely has such strange-poor officers-employees as shown in ‘Lahore Confidential’. These include a female agent (Karishma Tanna) of Azad Khyalat Wali Raw, who can go to any extent by keeping morality in check. To cross some other limits, the second agent (Richa Chadha) sends the raw ones from Delhi to Pakistan. This agent is fond of poetry. Any Pakistani can play two to four lions with his emotion. She gives her heart to the married Pathan (Arunoday Singh) there (she too had heard some lions). Richa Chadha’s patriotism suddenly wakes up when it comes to light that Pathan is involved in conspiracies against India.
The events of the film are highly imaginary. Not only is the scope of logic left, the synergy of events is also messed up. The excessive use of Shero-Shayari sometimes breaks the pace of the film, and sometimes gives a shock. Love is going on in one scene, in the next scene, bullets start running. When nothing happens, Richa Chadha’s mother starts on the phone – ‘You are getting older, when will you get married?’ The actors who have played the roles of officers and employees of the Indian Embassy are all weary. Perhaps he also got the illusion of a breathless story. So instead of showing quickness and agility most of the time, they kept getting surprised and disturbed.

Richa Chadha lags in acting
Seeing ‘Shakeela’ first and then ‘Madam Chief Minister’, we thought that Richa Chadha is not able to show the jewelery of acting due to weak films. The ‘Lahore Confidential’ made it clear that it was a case of ‘na na jaane aangan tereda’. That is, Richa Chadha herself is a failure in acting. In this film, his face remains expressionless. Listening to the lion, the applause plays as if flies are flying.
The film will surprise even the raw people
However, it is not only acting, but also on the direction of directing, scripting, music, photography and editing. It will also give a good headache to the RAW people, on whose adventures it has been built. The makers of ‘Lahore Confidential’ introduced ‘London Confidential’ last year. It was also Basirpaar’s film. Instead of creating something more ‘Confidential’, it is better that they search for good stories. The audience will be very grateful.
