Marriage Ceremony at Gurugram in Haryana will now be hosted by police officers as well as administrative officials as it is mandatory to check on the COVID-19 protocol in large ceremonies during the epidemic.
According to an order issued by Gurugram Police Commissioner KK Rao, the police can attend any wedding events in the city without invitation and issue fines to those who do not wear masks. They will also keep an eye on the guests and urge them to follow guidelines like social distance to prevent the spread of coronovirus.
This step has been taken amidst increase in COVID-19 cases in Haryana. On Monday, 2,663 new cases were registered in the state, taking the number of infected to 2,19,963, while 28 deaths brought the figure to 2,216.
According to the daily bulletin of the state health department, of the latest cases, Gurugram district recorded the highest number of 866 cases while Faridabad had 577 infections.
