New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the conference-cum-exhibition “New Urban India: Transforming the Urban Scenario” organized under the ‘Amrit Mahotsav’ to mark the 75th year of Independence at the Indira Gandhi Foundation in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh’s capital on Tuesday. . The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) gave this information on Monday. The PMO said that Modi will digitally hand over the keys of houses constructed under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) to 75,000 beneficiaries of 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh and will also interact with the beneficiaries of the scheme in the state through digital medium.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of 75 urban development projects of Uttar Pradesh under Smart City Mission and AMRUT, for seven cities including Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Gorakhpur, Jhansi and Ghaziabad under Phase II of FAME. Will flag off 75 buses and release a coffee table book. This coffee table book contains information about 75 completed projects under the flagship schemes of the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
The Prime Minister will also visit three exhibitions of the Expo. The Prime Minister will also announce the establishment of Atal Bihari Vajpayee Chair at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU). The PMO said that Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will also be present on the occasion.
The Conference-cum-Expo is being organized by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs as part of the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” from October 5 to 7. The theme of the expo is Transformation of the Urban Scenario and is mainly based on the remarkable changes that have taken place in Uttar Pradesh. The PMO informed that all the States and Union Territories will participate in the conference-cum-expo, which will help them to share experiences and decide the commitment and direction for the plans ahead. The convention-cum-expo will be open to the general public for two days from October 6 to 7 respectively.
