Plane Crash: Indonesia’s Boeing 737 crashes 4 minutes after takeoff, debris at sea, 62 passengers aboard

Digital Desk, Jakarta. Srivijaya Airlines plane has been reported to have crashed into the sea after flying from Indonesia’s capital Jakarta. According to media reports, the plane’s contact with the control tower was broken 4 minutes after taking off from the airport. Debris of some electronic equipment has been seen in the sea. However, whether it is of the missing aircraft or not has not been officially confirmed yet. It is being told that the aircraft carried 62 passengers including seven children and six crew members.

Broken contact after 4 minutes of flight
The missing flight number of Srivijaya Air was SJ 182. According to FlightRadar24, this aircraft is of 26 years old Boeing 737-500 series. Which flew from Jakarta’s Socarno-Hatta Airport on Saturday evening. It lost contact with Air Traffic Control (ATC) just four minutes after takeoff. At that time the aircraft was at an altitude of 10 thousand feet. According to the flight watchdog website FlightRadar24, he has received indications of the plane coming down abruptly.

Search ship and rescue team sent to the accident site
The place where the aircraft has lost contact with ATC is the sea, so search ships, helicopters and rescue teams have been sent to that place. According to reports, the aircraft was over 26 years old. It was purchased by Continental Airlines of the United States in 1994. From there it was bought by Srivijaya Airlines.

Chaos at the airport
The flight was diverted from Sukarno-Hatta Airport in Jakarta to Pontianak City Airport, but went missing midway. On receiving this information, the family of passengers reached Jakarta and Pontianak Airport. There was chaos at both airports. Family members were seen crying.

Two big aircraft accidents have already taken place
There have been two major aircraft accidents in Indonesia in which the 737 Max Boeing aircraft crashed. Although the aircraft, which flew from Jakarta on Saturday, is not in the 737 MAX range. In October 2018, Indonesian Lion Air was hit by a flight accident, killing 189 people and debris of the aircraft was found at sea.

Boeing’s 737 MAX aircraft has been in controversy
The aircraft which has gone missing from Jakarta is also being described as Boeing’s 737 series, although it is not Max. Max has been raising questions about the safety of the aircraft even before. The news even came that Boeing is considering to stop production of this aircraft.

What is the problem in this plane
The biggest problem lies in its engine. Even though fuel is saved, the engine itself may reduce its speed and cause the ship to shut down. To overcome this problem, the company has deployed a software named MCAS. But many times this software also gives wrong instructions, which increases the chances of a ship crashing.
