Digital Desk, Washington. According to the American Broadcasting Company (ABC), people in America are living with gun violence as incidents of shootings continue to rise across the country. In Philadelphia, 1,500 people were shot in October this year, killing nearly 400, Xinhua news agency quoted a recent ABC news report on Sunday.
The ABC report said the violence of the shootings is not unique to Philadelphia. Murders are on the rise in cities across the country this year. During just one week in July, 430 deaths occurred and more than 1,000 people were shot, according to data collected from the Gun Violence Archive. There have been 17,723 deaths from gun violence so far this year, excluding suicides.
There were over 19,400 shooting deaths in 2020 and 15,400 in 2019. The environment is a hostile environment, Joshua Cornelius, a 17-year senior at a North Philadelphia school, told ABC News. This is a real war zone.
