Veteran Indian tennis player Sania Mirza along with her partner Shuai Zhang defeated Makoto Nonomiya and Eri Hozumi in straight sets on Saturday to enter the finals of the Ostrava Open 2021. This is Sania’s second final of the season and she has a chance to win her first title of the year.
The second seeded Indo-Chinese pair defeated the Japanese pair 6-2, 7-5 in a match that lasted one hour and 21 minutes. 34-year-old Sania now has a chance to win her first title in the 2021 season. She was runner-up in the WTA 250 Cleveland event last month alongside Christina Machale.
The Sania-Zhang pair easily won the first set 6-2. After this, the pair of Makoto and Hozumi made a comeback in the second set. The second set, however, was won by the Indian-Chinese pair 7-5. At the same time, in women’s singles, Maria Sakkari of Greece defeated Poland’s Sviatec 6-4, 7-5 to reach the final.
