Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday alleged that the only way for the central government to deal with the situation in Jammu and Kashmir is to “repress”. He made this reaction to the comments of Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat related to warnings of imposition of sanctions to deal with the recent violent incidents in Kashmir.
Mufti said his statement was “contradictory” to the official statement that everything was going well in the Valley. He alleged on Twitter, “Bipin Rawat’s statement even after Kashmir has been converted into an open prison is no surprise as repression is the only way for the Indian government to deal with the situation in J&K. This is also contrary to his official statement that everything is fine here.
Let us tell you that while delivering the first Ravikant Singh Memorial Lecture in Assam on Saturday, General Bipin Rawat had said that people of Jammu and Kashmir had started taking advantage of the freedom of movement in recent times, but due to the prevailing situation, it may be hampered. . He also appealed to the people to cooperate in dealing with the situation.
In such a situation, on Sunday, Mehbooba Mufti protested against this statement of General Bipin Rawat. Along with this, in another tweet, he said, “Stringent, harsh and strict measures like mass arrest, suspension of internet, search of people (not even children), confiscation of bikes and two wheelers and preparation of new security bunkers.” What steps are left to be taken after the repressive measures?
