Karan Johar and Asif Kapadia presented the Icon Award at the London Indian Film Festival

London. Noted filmmakers Karan Johar and Asif Kapadia have been honored with the Icon Award at the London Indian Film Festival (LIFF) for their contribution to cinema. At the closing ceremony of LIFF 2021 last week, the award was given to Johar and Kapadia along with other celebrities.

Johar is known for several box office successes in Bollywood and Kapadia has been awarded an Oscar for making a documentary on British singer and songwriter Amy Winehouse. Under the aegis of ‘Bagree Foundation’ and ‘British Film Institute’ this year the festival was organized both digitally and physically.

Carrie Rajinder Sahni, Executive and Program Director, LIFF said, “Due to the strong team, we were able to organize the festival online and work on cinema again despite the challenges. We thank the cinema that helped us adopt a new marketing strategy and attract audiences.

Bollywood actresses Shruti Haasan and Janhvi Kapoor were also given awards for notable achievement at this year’s festival. Karan was in the news in the last week of June by announcing his new project. In this film, he will show the story of India’s great lawyer and politician C. Shankaran Nair on the big screen. It will be directed by Karan Singh Tyagi.

Karan Johar had given this information by posting on social media. The director wrote in the post, ‘So thrilled and proud to present the unheard story of a historical figure C Sankaran Nair on the big screen. It will be directed by Karan Singh Tyagi. Information related to the film and cast will be shared soon.
