New Delhi. The Indian team performed brilliantly in the Junior Hockey World Cup (Junior Hockey World Cup-2021) registered its second consecutive win. The Indian team defeated Poland 8-2 in their third match of the tournament. In this match played at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, Sanjay, Hundal Arijit Singh and Sudeep Chirmako scored 2-2 goals while Uttam Singh and Shardanand Tiwari scored 1-1. Wojciech Rutkowski and Robert Powlak scored 1-1 for Poland.
After scoring a hat-trick in India’s first two matches, vice-captain Sanjay continued his stellar form while Hundal, who scored a hat-trick against Canada, also scored two goals in this match. Indian Junior Hockey Team They will now face Belgium, the runners-up of the previous stage, in the quarter-finals on December 1. Belgium beat Malaysia in goal difference in Pool A as both the teams had 7-7 points.

After a shocking 4-5 defeat at the hands of France in the opening match of the tournament, India had kept Canada’s chances of survival alive after beating Canada 13-1 in the second match of the pool. The match against Poland was a ‘do or die’ for them and the Indians kept the pressure on Poland from the start while continuing the confidence of the match against Canada.
India soon reaped the fruits of their efforts with star drag-flicker Sanjay scoring his seventh goal of the tournament from a penalty corner in the fourth minute. The Indians maintained their aggression and doubled their lead four minutes later, with a goal again from a penalty corner but the goal was scored by Hundal. Sudeep then tripled India’s lead in the 24th minute with a brilliant field goal and the score was 3-0 in his favor at half-time.
In the four minutes of the third quarter, Uttam gave India a 4-0 lead with a field goal. After this, Tiwary increased the score by scoring from a penalty corner in the 38th minute. Sudeep again scored a field goal in the 40th minute. Then the Poland team, trailing 0-6, took the aggression in the last quarter. He scored many penalty corners and during this time scored twice to reduce the margin of defeat. India won by a huge margin thanks to field goals from Sanjay and Hundal.

In other matches of the day, Pakistan beat Egypt 3-1 in Pool D while France beat Canada 11-1 to finish on top of Pool A winning all their matches. Malaysia defeated South Africa 4-3 to finish second in Pool A to qualify for the quarterfinals, while Belgium beat Chile 3-0 to top their pool.
