Jammu Kashmir: NIA arrested recruiter for Lashkar

The spokesman said that the agency has already filed a charge sheet against him.

Jammu Kashmir latest news: NIA spokesperson said that in the course of investigation it was found out that Rather is a school teacher in Bandipora and he has sympathy for Lashkar. Parveen came in contact with her through social media forums.

Srinagar. A school teacher was arrested from his house in North Kashmir on Thursday for allegedly recruiting people for Pakistan-based terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba. Was A spokesperson of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) said that Altaf Ahmed Rather, from Bandipora district in Jammu and Kashmir, was wanted in a case after the arrest of a woman named Tania Parveen in West Bengal last year.

The spokesman said that in the course of the investigation it was found out that Rather is a school teacher in Bandipora and he has sympathy for Lashkar. Parveen came into contact with her through social media forums and Rather introduced her to Lashkar-based members of Pakistan. The spokesman said that Parveen was arrested by the West Bengal Police last year on the charge of contacting Lashkar.

NIA had filed the case on 5 April 2020
He said that an FIR was registered against the woman under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Information Technology Act at Badurai police station in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. The spokesperson said that the agency has already filed a charge sheet against him and ‘further investigation is being done in the case.’
