IPL 2021: Kevin Pietersen comes in support of England players, shits on ECB

Senior England players are facing criticism for leaving the first Test match with New Zealand and playing in the IPL. These players have been joined by former England batsman Kevin Pietersen. Jose Butler and Sam Curren are being questioned over giving up the IPL for skipping the Test matches. Peterson is currently playing for England Legends in the Road Safety World Series in India. He most requested that he leave England players for the decision to play in the IPL and instead ask questions to ECB officials.

He tweeted that the media is daily questioning the players about playing the initial Test matches for the IPL and England. First young Sam Curren and now Butler. The question should be on Harrison, Giles and Smith. He did not appear to be losing against India. Leave the players out of all this. British media targeted Butler for dropping the Test series against New Zealand starting on June 2, as he would not be able to play the Test if his franchise reached the play-offs starting in the last week of May. Peterson then commented on the players’ support.

Geoffrey Boycott rages over England players playing IPL

Significantly, the IPL ends on May 30, while the first Test between England and New Zealand will be played from June 2. The second Test match will be played between 10 and 14 June. For England, 13 players including Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, Joffra Archer, Moin Ali, Eoin Morgan will play in the IPL. If the teams of these players reach the playoffs, then these players will not be able to play the first Test match against New Zealand. Traditionally England players left the IPL in the first or second week of May to take part in the home series. This time the board has allowed its players to play throughout the season.
