Hello friends, today is the birthday of the popular Malayalam actor Mohanlal. Mohanlal Vishwanathan Nair was born on 21 May 1960 in Alanthur in Pathanampithya district of Kerala to the Vishwanathan Nair family. His father was a lawyer and government employee, and his mother is Santakumari Ji. Later these people started living in a house in Mudavangmugal, Thiruvananthapuram with the whole family which was his mother’s house.


About Mohanlal:

Mohanlal first started attending Mudavangmugal LP School. He then enrolled in Model School Thiruvananthapuram. Mohanlal was interested in art since childhood. He used to participate in school plays. In the sixth grade, young Mohanlal was chosen as the best actress in his school. After completing his school education, he enrolled for a bachelor’s degree at Mahatma Gandhi College, Thiruvananthapuram. There too, he did not give up acting and won several Best Actor Awards.

Mohanlal's film career:

Mohanlal started his film career from his college. His first was Thirnottam which was made in 1978 but the film fell under the censor board’s objection and was not released. He first had success in 1980 when he was elected to play the antagonist in Manzil Virinya Pookkal which proved to be a blockbuster film. After this, he earned his name in more than 25 films in the year 1983.


From 1986 to 1995, Mohanlal is considered a golden period in cinema. The year 1986 was one of the best of his years. Sathyan Anthikad’s TP Balagopalan M won him his first Kerala State Award for Best Actor. Mohanlal emerged as the superstar of Malayalam cinema after the role of Don.


He then played the insane patient in Thalavattom. Gandhinagar played the role of 1 unemployed youth forced to become Gurkha in 2nd Street. He did many other superhit films which were quite spectacular.

Awards and Honors: Mohanlal

Mohanlal is an Indian film actor and producer internationally which is the biggest name of the Malayalam cinema. Mohanlal has been a four-time National Award winner. He won two Best Actor and a Special Jury Award. I also won a Best Actor Award. Film Guru was nominated in 1997 as India’s official entry for the Oscar for Best Foreign Film.



Let me tell you that in 2001, the Government of India honored him with the Padma Shri for his contribution towards Indian cinema. After this, in 2009, he was given the post of Honorary Lieutenant Colonel by the Indian Territorial Army which happened for the first time in the history of Indian cinema.



Mohanlal has acted in nearly 300 films. And still, he is working in films in Malayalam, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada languages. He has co-produced 12 films.
