Mumbai. Renowned filmmaker Ronnie Screwvala is all set to produce his first web series Panthers, a multi-season series espionage thriller. The show will be produced by Screwvala’s RSVP production company and will be co-produced by Blue Monkey.

Directed and conducted by Rensil De Silva, the series is rooted in the Indo-Pak espionage games of the late 60s and early 70s.

The 45-minute episode follows the adventures of RA&W heroes of a bygone era as they follow clues, capture their target, gather information, and piece together puzzle pieces.

A major highlight of the series is the recreation of an alleged plot by the ISI to hijack an Indian Airlines plane operated by Rajiv Gandhi in the early 1970s. This incident was mentioned in a recent book by a former RAW agent, who said that RAW was able to neutralize the threat.

Ronnie Screwvala said, “‘Panthers’ is the story of India’s rising spy agency set against a politically unstable setting. It is eye-opening as it is gripping and boasts the right balance of realism and entertainment, which makes it RSVP makes it a perfect project for us.”

Rensil said, “The country is embracing true stories like never before. All the covert operations mentioned in ‘Panthers’ take place in real life. The series is a tribute to the adventures of the RAW agency.”

Blue Monkey Producer Premnath Rajagopalan said, “When Mukesh Radha brought us this project, we were excited to collaborate with him and take it forward as it is a story that will make all of us Indians proud.”

‘Panthers’ will go on floors in the first quarter of 2022. (IANS)
