Digital Desk, Copenhagen. Amid rising new cases of coronavirus in Denmark, the Danish government has announced that it will impose restrictions in the country to prevent the virus from spreading. According to the report of Xinhua news agency, 11,194 new cases of corona were reported in Denmark in the last 24 hours. With this, these new restrictions will be applicable from 8 am on Sunday till January 17, 2022.

We need to curb the activity, Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen told a news conference. We should all limit our social interactions. However, our goal right now is to keep a large section of society as open as possible. The new restrictions include the closure of cinemas, museums, zoos and sporting events. Restaurants will also be able to serve food to people only till 10 pm.

Health Minister Magnus Hunick said in a press conference, “Infections can spread more in places where people gather in large numbers.” Furthermore, Hunick reported that a total of 11,559 cases of the new Omicron variant have been reported in Denmark so far. “The rules of the game have been changed due to the Omicron variant and so we have to react now,” the prime minister said.
