Digital Desk, Kathmandu. The Ministry of Home Affairs of Nepal has decided to ban the entry of citizens of African countries, citing the danger posed by the new variant of the corona virus, Omicron. Ministry spokesman Phanindramani Pokharel told Xinhua, “Keeping in mind the danger posed by the new variant of the corona virus, Omicron, we on Sunday instructed our departments to allow citizens of all African countries to enter the country with immediate effect.” Do not allow entry, only those who have official and diplomatic passports.

According to the report of Xinhua news agency, initially we gave them instructions, and it will be formalized soon. The ministry has not set any time frame for the new rule as the new variants are being tested globally. The World Health Organization on Friday announced a new variant of Kovid, Omicron. Which was first declared at the most severe level in South Africa and was officially given the Greek name Omicron.

Nepal in September reopened the on-arrival visa service in the tourism sector for foreign tourists who have been fully vaccinated against Kovid-19. At the same time, Pokharel clarified that vaccinated tourists from African countries will also not be allowed to enter Nepal for the time being. He said, African nationals who have already got Nepal visa from Nepalese embassy abroad will also not be allowed to enter Nepal. Nepal does not currently have direct air connectivity with African countries nor has a large number of African tourists come to the country.
