Digital Desk, Wellington. 106 new cases of corona virus were reported in New Zealand in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of infected people to 5,554. This information was given by the Ministry of Health on Saturday. According to the Xinhua news agency report, 104 of the new cases have come from both the North Island and South Island communities and two have come from outside the border.
The current Delta variant outbreak in the New Zealand community has brought the total number of coronaviruses to 2,492, including 2,389 in Auckland, 81 in Waikato, 17 in Wellington, 4 in Northland and one in Blenheim. There are 55 patients of corona virus admitted in hospitals, out of which five are in intensive care.
The total death toll from Corona in the country has gone up to 28. Meanwhile, New Zealand’s largest city Auckland and part of the Waikato region in the North Island are under Corona Alert Level Three restrictions. The rest of the country has alert level two restrictions in place with indoor activities limited to 100 people.
