The second wave of corona has proved fatal for India. High Covid Positivity Rate is being seen in almost 90 percent of the country. The central government said on Tuesday that out of 734 640 districts, the positivity rate is more than 5 percent, which is above the national boundary level. In the deadly second wave of corono virus, the case of active cases is in a bad condition for hospitals and crematoriums. There is a severe shortage of oxygen and essential medicines for the treatment of critically ill Kovid patients.
Seeing the danger of corona rising, last month, the Center included all people above the age of 18 in the vaccination program. Meanwhile, most states have complained that the vaccine is not available in sufficient quantity. To break the chain of infection, the authorities have warned the states that if an epidemic spreads in the rural areas, it can create havoc.
Health Ministry spokesman, Luv Agarwal said, “New states like Himachal Pradesh, Nagaland are witnessing high covid positivity rates. We need corrective measures to break the chain of infection.” The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has said to pay special attention to the rural areas of India. Along with this, the criteria for the Kovid test have also been revised. ICMR said that instead of RT-PCR test, attention should be paid to rapid antigen tests. This will provide accurate information about the situation and will also help in breaking the chain of infection.
Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba held a high-level meeting with health officials regarding the management of Covid and the strategy of the states. Gauba said that tele-counseling needs to be encouraged at this time. Urged the states to increase health infrastructure at sub-center, primary health center, and health-welfare center levels. Steps to improve the human resource workforce for Kovid management were also discussed in the meeting.
States have been requested to give priority to three important areas: testing, control and infrastructure. Under the Disaster Management Act, states have been asked to identify districts falling in the severe category, in which the Kovid positivity rate has been 10% or more in the previous week. A state-level nodal officer will be posted in such districts for 14 days. Along with this, the district collectors have also been given the responsibility of reviewing the daily situation.
In an earlier advisory, the government had asked the states to close the areas where the test positivity rate is above 10 percent. Let us tell you that in the last month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had asked to follow Kovid-appropriate behavior, lockdown and mini containment zone as a last resort in order to put an end to the epidemic.
Since then, most states have adopted lockdowns or restrictions to prevent the spread of the virus. In the last 24 hours, 3.29 lakh new cases have been reported in India. So far, 2.29 crore people in India have been infected with these new cases.
