New Delhi: A video of a Pakistani TV channel is becoming very viral on the messaging platform WhatsApp, in which it is being claimed that a petition has been filed in Pakistan to prove freedom fighter revolutionary Bhagat Singh innocent. In this video, two anchors of a news channel are seen talking to Imtiaz Rashid Qureshi, the Pakistani lawyer who filed the petition. Imtiaz Rashid Qureshi is the chairman of the Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation, Pakistan.
It is being told in the viral video in India that Imtiaz Rashid Qureshi has filed a petition in the Lahore High Court of Pakistan, seeking an early hearing, and the court has agreed to it.
When Zee Hindustan investigated the matter, it was found that this Pakistani lawyer, Imtiaz Rashid Qureshi, has filed a petition to prove Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh innocent. In this, he has made the basis of the Lahore Conspiracy Case. In this case, about 90 years ago, on 23 March 1931, Bhagat Singh and his associates were hanged.
During the hearing, the Lahore Police presented the FIR of this case before the court. This FIR was registered on December 17, 1928, in which two unidentified gunmen are mentioned. This FIR is in Urdu and was registered at Anarkali Police Station in Lahore.
According to Qureshi, an officer of the Anarkali police station was the complainant in this case. In the FIR, the complainant-cum-eyewitness said that the person he followed was “5 feet 5 inches, looked like a Hindu, had short mustache, slim and strong body, and white trousers (pyjama), gray shirt (kurta) and a small black Christie-like cap”.
Qureshi said that the special judges of the tribunal dealing with the case of Bhagat Singh sentenced him to death without hearing 450 witnesses in the case. He said, “The lawyers of the martyrs were not even given a chance to cross-examine them. That’s why they want to prove the innocence of Bhagat Singh in the Saunders case.”
Qureshi hopes that if a Pakistani court quashes the verdict against Bhagat Singh, the British government can be pressured to apologize for the “false trial”.
Zee Hindustan’s investigation has revealed that this is a video of Pakistani TV channel Geo News. This video is many years old. Let us tell you that the news about the filing of a petition to prove Bhagat Singh innocent came between 2016 and 2018 on many platforms including Zee Media Group. Since then no major progress has been made in this matter. That is, the video is correct, but currently there is no reference to it.
