Cincinnati Open: Zverev and Ashleigh Barty reach finals

Mason. Top-ranked Ash Barty in women’s and Olympic gold medalist Alexander Zverev in men’s category made it to the finals of the Western and Southern Open tennis tournament for the first time on Saturday. The 25-year-old tennis star, on her strong serve, defeated 22nd ranked Angelique Kerber in the world 6-2, 7-5. She will face number 76 Jill Tichman in the final.

Tichman, a wild card entrant, has already made a comeback by defeating Naomi Osaka and Belinda Bencic. She continued her stellar performance in the semi-finals as well, defeating fourth seed Karolina Pliskova 6-2, 6-4 to qualify for the final against the defending Wimbledon champions.

The men’s final will be played between Zverev and seventh-ranked Andrei Rublev. Third seed Zverev defeated second seed Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (4) while Rublev defeated top seed Daniil Medvedev 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 .
