Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui Review: Our country is called the country of Kamasutra, but sex education is never emphasized in our country except to create obscene thoughts by looking at Khajuraho idols. Parents always shy away from talking to their children about sex. Many fathers ask their wives to handle everything when their daughters start their periods. We are producing children ignorant about sex from generation to generation after getting some incomplete knowledge from some friends and some from internet. This is a question of education, so it will be resolved sooner or later, but the danger we are not able to foresee is giving our children the strength to understand and accept their own sexuality. Even from a scientific point of view, it is not necessary that a boy must grow up to be a man and a girl must grow up to be a woman. Sometimes hormones and sometimes under circumstance it is possible that the sex with which the child was born, the feelings of the opposite sex become intense and over time they become so heavy that the mental balance of that person becomes disturbed. In such a situation, it is right to get a mental test done at the right time and get a sex change done when it seems appropriate, but will we be able to accept this? This raises the question of the recent release on Netflix – Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui.

Bodybuilder Manvinder aka Manu (Ayushmann Khurrana) falls in love with Maanvi (Vani Kapoor). The friendship and relationship of both gets stronger. Once upon a time, Maanvi tells her that she is a “trans” i.e. she was a boy at birth, but with time, the girl-feelings in her become very strong, so she has made herself a girl through surgery and medicines. After this explosive revelation, everything gets ruined and Ayushmann puts a question mark on this relationship. After some time and a little research, they realize that love is big, so they return to Vani and after some struggle, the two become one again.

The story of the film is new. No love like this is shown in Hindi films. We have seen many movies making fun of homosexuality and in some films homosexuality has been placed in the film with a very delicate beauty. Chandigarh Kare Aashiq is not based on homosexual relationships. Famous writer Khushwant Singh has written in great detail about establishing a physical relationship with a eunuch in his novel Delhi. This film is not even on this kind of relationship. Neither is this the story of Arjuna hiding in the form of Vrihanla, nor is it an attempt to explain the concept of Ardhanarishvara. Vaani Kapoor is born in this film, then she is a boy. With time, the feelings of girls awaken in her and she starts thinking of herself as a girl. As she grows older, her feelings become so intense that she undergoes an operation and goes from boy to girl, with the permission of her Brigadier father (Kanwaljit Singh) and the displeasure of her mother (Satwant Kaur).

The idea of ​​the story is very good. Ayushmann Khurrana is fond of playing strange roles. His specialty is that he assimilate these roles. In the very first film Vicky Donor, he becomes a sperm donor, in Dream Girl he becomes an adult hotline telephone operator in the girl’s voice, and sometimes he becomes gay (becomes gay) in Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan. Ayushmann has become a Punjabi bodybuilder in this film. He himself is from Chandigarh and is Punjabi, so this role was written by thinking to him. You will find this type of show in Chandigarh according to the dozens. She will have her own English MashaAllah, but the girl is absolutely a supermodel who speaks English. Vaani Kapoor is flourishing film by film but she has done an unexpected job in this film. She has followed the path of Ayushmann and played the character of a “trans” girl. He is Punjabi in film as well as in real life. This role was also written after seeing the voice. He has done wonders in playing this character.

Now let’s talk about where the film has been seen messing up. The script is weak. The dialogues are still quirky and Ayushmann seems to have improvised a lot as he is well versed in the language and style of the boys of Chandigarh. The aspects which required little attention have been dealt with very quickly. Sex change operation is very expensive deal, no mention about it except an animation video. In all the sex change cases that have happened in India or outside, it is possible to make a girl from a boy, but the girl has never been seen becoming as beautiful as Vaani Kapoor. In the story of Vaani, the problems and feelings from childhood to youth have been directly disappeared from the script. There is so much emphasis on romance that the sex change operation seems like a redundant part of the story. With Ayushmann’s strong build and Vaani’s slim and firm body, all the characters are weak. Ayushmann’s widower father has been told the story of his love for a Muslim girl. Ayushmann’s sisters are very crude characters and do over the top acting. The characters of Ayushmann’s business partner twin brothers Riz and Jomo have no character, they seem to be from Faltu Mein Aaye. Even if Vaani’s mother, Vaani’s cousin, Vaani’s friend were all removed from the film, it would not have made any difference. Instead, if attention had been given to the back story of Vaani, then the film could have got seriousness. Ayushmann’s anger also seems to be fake and the more easily he gets convinced, it seems childish. There is a male-dominated society in Punjab, where such a relationship is not accepted and no boy can accept such a relationship, but Ayushmann did it in very few scenes. Tired of using the word Hijra, Ayushmann finally tries to understand the relationship between himself and Vaani by going to a Hijra. This sounds strange.

In 2004, Jassi Sidhu wrote this song for the boys and girls of Chandigarh which was a huge hit. The film has also been named after this song. The cinematography is by Manoj Lobo and captures the color of Chandigarh to a great extent. The music of the film is by Sachin-Jigar and the mood of Chandigarh. The beats of Kalle Kale and Drag Te Naach are wonderful. The film is produced by T-Series and a remix of Tanishk Bagchi “Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui” has also been kept. The editing is in the hands of veteran Chandan Arora and probably the editor has won the battle between writer and editor as the backstory and supporting cast have been dealt with very quickly.

Full marks may be given to director Abhishek Kapoor for a new idea, but for a bad script, Supratik Sen, Tushar Paranjpe and Abhishek himself should think again. Ayushman should be praised that he is seen doing something new every time and the most praise should be said that despite being so handsome, accepting such a role and playing it with gusto is a big deal. From Shuddh Desi Romance to War and now Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui, perhaps this film will give Vaani a way to choose the right films. The film should be seen so that the frustrations of the mind get a break and the mind opens a little. Despite the film’s script being weak, it doesn’t make much difference to the film being entertaining.
