BJP MLA in Karnataka Siddoo Savari has been embroiled in controversy after a video went viral in which he was allegedly seen scrambling with women councilors going to file nomination papers for the post of President and Vice President of Mahalingpur Town Municipal Council. According to the information received, the incident took place in Bagalkot district on November 9, in which the MLA from Teradal seat, Sawari, allegedly scrambled with BJP councilors Savita Hurrakadli, Godavari and Chandni Naik. These women are associated with the Congress.
The BJP refused to give tickets to these councilors, after which they decided to contest for the post of President and Vice President of Mahalingpur Town Municipal Council with the support of Congress members. When these women were going to file their nomination papers, Sawadi allegedly prevented them from entering the city council building. Soon other BJP workers also joined Savari and reportedly started beating him.
During the scuffle, Savari allegedly dropped Savita on the ground. Savari denied the allegations and said that he respects women a lot and pushing and scrambling them is not his rites. He said that baseless allegations have been made to tarnish my image.
According to the police, he himself has filed an FIR in this case as the people involved in the violence ignored the presence of the police. Police said that no woman has given a complaint.
