A top BCCI official told PTI on the condition of confidentiality, “If any player feels that he should practice with the red ball also, then the BCCI will provide him the red duke balls. For any kind of help, the coach of the national team will help them immediately. ‘There is a difference of only 20 days between the IPL final and the final of the World Test Championship and hence the board has put this option in front.

If the IPL ends on 29 May and the team goes on tour on 30 or 31 May, the players will have to stay on a week of rigorous segregation in the UK. New Zealand will play in the final of the World Test Championship after playing two Tests against England, while the Indian team will have to play in the longer format immediately after the T20 format. It is believed that Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane will not get much opportunity to play with their franchise teams and in such a situation, they can use this time to prepare for Test matches.
