Voting in three phases – 27 March, 1 April and 6 April – is to be held in Assam, while the counting of votes will take place on 2 May. Votes will be cast in 47 seats in the first phase, 39 in the second phase and 40 seats in the third phase.

Kamal Singh Narjari of the BOPF had won the seat of his victory in this assembly elections in 2016. He defeated his nearest rival and BGanP candidate Ajay Kumar Ray by a narrow margin of 1678 votes. Kamal Singh Narjari got 29240 votes, while Ajay Kumar got 27562 votes.

Number of voters
The total number of voters in this seat is 1,34,595. The number of male voters in this is 70,044, while the number of female voters is 64,551. In the 2016 assembly elections, this seat was polled 88.69 percent.
