Just a week after a suicide attack on a mosque in Kunduz city of Afghanistan, a mosque in Kandahar exploded on Friday. 45 people were killed in a suicide attack on a mosque in Kunduz city. The blast occurred on Friday at a Shia community mosque located in the city’s Police District 1 (PD1), Tolo News reported. Witnesses have claimed that several people have been killed in the blast, but there has been no official confirmation of casualties. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

The Islamic State (IS) terror group claimed responsibility for the October 8 bombings at the Kunduz mosque. Khama Press reported that the group had announced that the suicide bomber’s name was Muhammad and that he was a Uighur Muslim. Kunduz mosque also belonged to the Shia community. The Taliban-led Afghan government condemned the attack and promised to bring the perpetrators to justice.
