Digital Desk, Seoul. In South Korea, for the first time in 34 years, a woman has given birth to five healthy babies. The doctors gave this information on Friday. A 30-year-old woman gave birth to four girls and a boy late Thursday night at Seoul National University Hospital, Yonhap News Agency reported.
According to the hospital, she underwent a caesarean section under the leadership of Professor Joon Jong-kwan involving more than 30 medical staff members. This marked the first birth of quintuplets in the country since 1987. Like other multiples, newborns are smaller and weigh less than average single babies, but they don’t have any health problems, the hospital said.
Both parents are 30 years old and are army captains, serving in the 17th Army Division. The woman got pregnant through IVF. Initially she gave birth to six children but one miscarried.
