Xinhua news agency quoted the ministry as saying that out of the total Omicron cases so far, except one case, all are in isolation, those who have recovered so far have been discharged. On Monday, 69 new cases were reported in the community, taking the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 13,495.
The largest city of Auckland reported 59 new infections, 7 in nearby Waikato, 2 in the Bay of Plenty and one in Taranaki, according to the health ministry. A total of 62 cases are being treated in hospitals, including seven admitted to intensive care units or high dependency units. The total number of deaths due to corona in the country has increased to 49.
