Digital Desk, Kuala Lumpur. As of midnight Friday, 5,551 new COVID-19 infections have been reported in Malaysia, taking the total number of infected in the country to 2,649,578. The Ministry of Health of the country gave this information. Some 23 of the new cases have come from outside, of which 5,528 are local transmissions, Xinhua news agency reported, citing data released on the ministry.
At the same time, 17 more deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours due to the epidemic, taking the total death toll to 30,538. Around 5,301 patients have been discharged from the hospital after recovery, taking the number of recoveries to 2,556,554.
There are some 62,486 active cases, 499 are in intensive care units and 269 of them have difficulty breathing. A total of 125,927 doses of Kovid-19 vaccines were administered in the country on Friday and about 79.2 per cent of the population has received at least one dose and 77.9 per cent have been fully vaccinated.
