Colombo. 18 Sri Lankan cricketers on Friday signed five-month central contracts that expire at the end of the year but former captain Angelo Mathews was not included. Sri Lanka Cricket announced that “the players have signed without hesitation to a previously proposed contract prepared by Sri Lanka Cricket in conjunction with the Technical Advisory Committee”.
According to a statement from Sri Lanka Cricket, “18 players have signed contracts that will be effective from 1 August 2021. The new contract will be for five months and will expire on December 31, 2021. ”
Three players – Dhanushka Gunatilak, Niroshan Dickwella and Kusal Mendis – are currently facing sanctions and have not been considered.
Regarding Mathews, Sri Lanka Cricket said, “Angelo Mathews is not available for selection at this time, so he was not one of the players to whom the contract was placed.”
It said, “Isuru Udana has retired from international cricket. ”
